Lake Dillon Arts Festival
Art for All
Escape the oppressive heat of July and get a blast of mountain air by heading to the three-day Lake Dillon Arts Festival, July 14 to 16. A stone’s throw from the shores of Lake Dillon, the festival features 90 artists from Colorado and around the country. It’s juried, meaning that each artist there is hand-picked for his or her high-quality pieces. See the paintings by dynamic duo Wendy Schaefer-Miles and Kevin Miles who work side-by-side on the same canvas to produce stunning landscape paintings. Stop by Colorado native Randall May’s booth to see his western cowboy and wildlife paintings and sculptures. May is known for his two-sided bronze works that feature a different scene on each side. His “Been through the Desert on a Horse” piece features a cowboy on horseback on one side and a person on a motorcycle on the other.
Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to win an arts festival shopping spree. On Saturday, if your name is drawn at 2 p.m., you can win a $500 arts festival voucher. On Sunday, the voucher amount climbs to $1,000. Ask any artist on both days for a ticket to place in the shopping spree drawing. In addition to art, there will be live music from guitarists Skanson and Hansen at the festival every day. And unlike other arts festivals, you won’t be fighting traffic or paying huge parking lot fees to attend this festival, now in its 11th year. “Dillon is still a quiet little mountain town,” says Darren Skanson, the event producer. “It’s the most relaxed arts festival you’ll ever go to.”
The festival runs July 20 to 22, 2018. Also, check out their Fall Festival August 31-September 2. Festival hours are Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
